Prestatyn Running Club’s talented teenager Oliver Birch-Jones has picked up another prestigious title.
The GB international has been confirmed as the winner of the 14-18 age-group in this year’s UK Triathlon League.
The result is based on the best three finishes in the series and Oliver, who represented Britain in the European Junior Tri championships in France, was a comfortable winner.
Four other club members have representative honours this coming weekend. Gordon Jones is a member of the strong Welsh M65 team for Saturday’s British and Irish Masters’ cross-country international in Belfast, and after a string of outstanding results is hoping to shake off a cold to boost the team’s chances of a medal.
On the same day Sophie Johnson, Ally Reid and Sue Hughes are turning out for North Wales in the Welsh inter-regional cross-country championships in Newtown. All three were in Parkrun action at the weekend.
Another member in great form at the moment is Jonah Armstrong, who travelled to Lancashire for the 10 Years of Podium 5k in Barrowfield. Based on his recent results he was placed in the 18m30s group but had an exceptional run, taking 43 seconds off his pb to finish in 17 minutes exactly.
Also on his travels was Jamie Betts, who clocked a vey nippy 18.30 in the Ancholme Valley Parkrun in Lincolnshire.
